Unfortunately for many people spring time brings itchy, watery eyes, runny noses, and lots of sneezing. What you may not know is that many pets suffer from seasonal allergies as well. The most common things to produce allergies in pets are food, flea bites, and environmental allergens like pollen, dander, grasses, weeds and trees. The tricky part as a pet parent is knowing when your pet is suffering.
Since your furry companion can’t tell you what’s wrong, it’s up to pet parents to be on the lookout for the signs. Here’s a list of seasonal allergy symptoms to watch for:
-
Excessive scratching
-
Red swollen skin
-
Sneezing
-
Compulsive paw licking
-
Chronic ear infections
-
Itchy, runny eyes
-
Hair loss
If you notice your pet showing signs of seasonal allergies, talk to your veterinarian about possible solutions.
